1994年12月8日18时20分，克拉玛依市友谊馆发生特大火灾，现场，中国教育官员唐健大声喊叫“学生们不要动，让领导先走！”。火灾烧死325人，烧伤132人，死者中288人是学生，另外37人是老师、家长和工作人员，而当天参加活动并就坐前排距离起火处最近的克市领导、教委领导几十人都成功逃生，没有一人死亡。据闻，唐健已升任为该市市长。
